Chuan-Yu 1000 kV Ultra-High Voltage AC Project
The State Grid Chuan-Yu 1000 kV Ultra-High Voltage AC Project was officially commenced on September 29, 2022. It is a key project of the national “14th Five-Year Plan” for power development. The total investment for the project is 28.631 billion yuan. As China’s first ultra-high voltage AC project at high altitude, it is a landmark project of significant milestone importance following the Jindongnan-Nanyang-Jingmen 1000 kV Ultra-High Voltage AC Pilot Demonstration Project.
The State Grid Chuan-Yu 1000 kV Ultra-High Voltage AC Project passes through eight prefecture-level cities (states, districts) including Sichuan’s Ganzi Prefecture, Ya’an City, Meishan City, Leshan City, Neijiang City, Ziyang City, and Chongqing’s Tongnan District, Tongliang District, etc., with the construction of a new 1000 kV transmission line spanning 1,316 kilometers. The project involves the construction of four new 1000 kV substations in Ganzi, Tianfu South, Chengdu East, and Tongliang in Sichuan and Chongqing, with a total substation capacity of 24 million kilovolt-amperes. The Chuan-Yu Ultra-High Voltage AC Project serves as a high-speed power route connecting the power sources and load centers of Sichuan and Chongqing. Once completed, it will be capable of annually transmitting more than 35 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity. It is of great significance for building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system and ensuring regional energy security.
